Leading American supermarket chain Walmart and their logistics contractor CCTI, told us about how they are adopting electric transport.

As part of its sustainable distribution strategy, the company incorporated Terberg electric yard trucks at its Lo Aguirre distribution center, located in the commune of Pudahuel, which are operated by Compañía Chilena de Transporte Intermodales S.A. (CCTI). This implementation consolidates Walmart’s position as a pioneer in the electrification of internal movement operations in the country. “This advance represents another step in our commitment to build a sustainable and efficient logistics chain,” explained Matías de Lorenzo, manager of Omni Supply Chain at Walmart Chile. “With this equipment we reduce CO2 emissions, eliminate harmful gases and contribute to the well-being of our employees, while promoting energy efficiency and innovation in our processes.”

CCTI’s view

Compañía Chilena de Transporte Intermodales S.A. (CCTI) is a leading logistics company in Chile. The company has been operating a fleet of electric road tractors for Walmart Chile for the past two years, making them pioneers in electric transport in the country. As logical next step they have now invested in a YT200EV for shunting operations. Errol Jouannet CCTI General Manager commented “Thanks to this advancement, we contribute to a quieter and cleaner environment for our clients’ neighbors. We continue to move forward toward more efficient, sustainable, and innovative logistics. Additionally, it enables lower long-term operating costs due to fuel savings, reduced maintenance, and greater energy efficiency. It is capable of operating full shifts. Maintenance is carried out by our mechanics, who were trained and certified by our Terberg Malaysia EV trainer at our dealer Tattersall’s training facilities.”
