June 2025 - DP World's Callao terminal in Peru celebrates over one year of successful operation with its fleet of 20 electric Terberg Terminal Tractors. These tractors, equipped with a 236 kWh battery capacity, have demonstrated exceptional performance and reliability since February 2024, marking a significant milestone in terminal logistics and global electrification.
Operational Success and Efficiency
Over the past year, the fleet has achieved an impressive 97% uptime, significantly reducing energy consumption costs by 77% compared to diesel-powered vehicles. The tractors operate in two 12-hour shifts, utilizing two charging opportunities per day. The average energy consumption remains consistent at 13-14 kWh per hour, with each full charge providing well over more than 12 hours of autonomy.
A Milestone in Global Electrification
"Our transition to electric operations was not solely driven by the reduction of 2,088 tons of CO₂ emissions or a 77% decrease in energy costs. It reflects our firm commitment to shaping the future of logistics—one that is quieter, cleaner, and more efficient. At DP World Callao, our 100% electric fleet has transported 3.6 million tons of cargo with zero emissions, minimal noise, and enhanced operational comfort. Sustainability, for us, is not a target—it is the new standard. As a testament to this, our fully electric station has covered 739,000 kilometres—the equivalent of 18 journeys around the globe—underscoring our dedication to a more responsible and resilient logistics model." Marco Hernandez, General Manager, DP World Callao
Ferdinand Terberg, VP of TerbergTaylor Americas, states: "The successful operation of our electric terminal tractors at DP World Callao over the past year is a testament to Terberg's commitment to innovation and sustainability. This milestone not only highlights the reliability and efficiency of our products but also reinforces our dedication to support our customers in advancing their sustainable logistics solutions."
Proactive fleet inspection
In April 2025, a team of Terberg engineers visited the site to conduct a proactive fleet inspection. This initiative aimed to gain a deep understanding of product health, performance data, and collect valuable customer feedback.
Charging infrastructure
The current charging infrastructure, supplied by Enel X Way, includes ten 200 kW dual gun fast chargers, capable of charging all 20 tractors simultaneously if needed.
Commitment to sustainability and innovation
The successful integration of these electric terminal tractors underscores DP World and Terberg's commitment to sustainability and innovation in terminal operations. This large-scale implementation provides valuable insights and confidence in the design, quality, and capabilities required for such deployments.
