Benschop, 22 October 2026 – Terberg Special Vehicles has reached a historic milestone: the production of its 50,000th vehicle. More than fifty years after the first terminal tractor was built this achievement reflects a remarkable journey of entrepreneurship, innovation and partnerships.
The milestone was marked around the world. In the Netherlands, vehicle number 50,000, one of six electric 4x4 RoRo tractors for Gothenburg RoRo Terminal, was officially unveiled and handed over at the factory in Benschop in the presence of distributor N.C. Nielsen. In the U.S. vehicle number 50,001 rolled off the production line, while in Malaysia vehicle number 50,002 was ceremonially handed over to customer Northport. Together, these milestones underscored the global reach of Terberg and the enduring relationships it has built with customers and distributors.
Built on entrepreneurship
Terberg produced its first terminal tractor in 1973, after Govert Terberg and Head of Development Joop Boumans recognised the potential of the emerging container transport market. Their entrepreneurial approach still defines Terberg today: seeing opportunities, believing in what is possible and making it happen.
Since then, Terberg has grown into a global company with production facilities in the Netherlands, Malaysia and the United States; after sales hubs in Miami, Houten, Dubai and Kuala Lumpur; and a network of more than 60 distributors worldwide, nine of which Terberg owned. Its vehicles have become safer, smarter and more sustainable, while close customer relationships and a long-term perspective have remained central to the family business.
This all fits within the three-pillar commitment: Built to Last. Charged to Perform. Supported for Life. It reflects Terberg Special Vehicles' commitment to building highly durable vehicles, delivering the performance customers depend on, and providing after sales support through lasting customer relationships and dedicated service.
Built by generations
The first 50,000 vehicles represent generations of colleagues who turned ideas into reliable terminal tractors and the trust and loyalty of customers and distributors around the world. This achievement belongs to everyone who has been part of Terberg’s journey.
Ready for the next 50,000
The first 50,000 vehicles tell an inspiring story of entrepreneurship, innovation and partnerships. Meanwhile, Terberg is already developing the next generation of solutions, supporting the next generation of customers and building the next 50,000 vehicles.
Built to last. Charged to perform. Supported for life.
